BCAA in Memopezil: 540 mg of Branched Chain Amino Acids, Explained
Memopezil's biggest line is 540 mg of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), about 52% of one serving: L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine in a 2:1:1 ratio. A 2026 review found no change in thinking in five of eight studies. The sales page does not mention them.

§ 01What it is
What is the BCAA line in Memopezil?
It is 540 mg of three amino acids, and it makes up just over half of what is in the capsules.
The label reads "Branched Chain Amino Acids 2:1:1 (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine)." Branched chain amino acids, or BCAAs, are three of the essential amino acids, so named because the body cannot make them and must get them from food. The 2:1:1 ratio is the usual leucine-heavy ratio. That means about twice as much leucine as isoleucine or valine, though the label prints only the total.
At 540 mg of 1,030 mg, this is the largest line by weight. Two capsules also hold 200 mg of bacopa, 100 mg of rhodiola, 100 mg of L-theanine and 90 mg of ginseng. The label does not explain why amino acids lead the formula. (Memopezil sales page)
This line is where the label and the sales page part ways. The sales page lists Pure Honey and names no amino acids at all. We follow the printed label. Read the Pure Honey page for the other side of that story.

§ 02At a glance
BCAA facts, next to the research
| Name on the label | Branched Chain Amino Acids 2:1:1 (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) |
|---|---|
| What it is | Three essential amino acids |
| Place on the label | Line 1 of 5, 52% of the 1,030 mg |
| Amount per serving (2 capsules) | 540 mg per serving |
| Amount used in research | No verified dose found |
| Strength of evidence | Small, mixed: 5 of 8 studies saw no change |
| Marketed or traditional use | Amino acids that also fuel muscle |
| Main caution | High blood levels can crowd tryptophan and tyrosine out of the brain. |
"No verified dose found" is a real finding. Studies of BCAAs use many doses, forms and groups of people, and we could not tie one figure to a memory outcome that applies to this capsule. We would rather say that than quote a number we cannot source.
§ 03What studies show
Do BCAAs help memory or thinking?
The best recent review found mixed results, and some studies suggested harm.
A 2026 systematic review looked at eight studies with 353 people in all. Five found no significant change in thinking after BCAA supplements. Three found improvement. The authors said results depended on the dose, how long people took it and their health, and some studies suggested harm. They asked for larger, better-run trials. (Majid 2026, BCAA systematic review)
That is not a strong case for a memory capsule. It is also not a closed case. The honest reading is that BCAAs have not been shown to improve memory in healthy adults, and the research is too thin to rule out small effects in some groups.
Many people already eat these amino acids. Eggs, meat, fish, dairy and beans supply gram amounts of them, far more than 540 mg. A person on a normal protein diet is not short of them. That does not make the capsule useless, but it does mean the line is not filling a gap for most readers.

Why more BCAA is not simply better for the brain
BCAAs share a carrier with two other amino acids, tryptophan and tyrosine, at the blood-brain barrier. When the blood level of BCAAs rises, less tryptophan and tyrosine enter the brain. Those two are the starting materials for serotonin and the catecholamines, such as dopamine. (Fernstrom 2013, large neutral amino acids)
The same paper describes this competition as a known feature of how the brain gets its amino acids. It does not say 540 mg does harm, and it does not say it does not. It does show that BCAAs are not a neutral addition to the brain's chemistry.
What 540 mg is
About 52% of one serving, printed on the label as a total for three amino acids.
What it is not
A tested memory dose. No study we found used this amount for memory.
What to do
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you take regular medicines. The label asks the same.
§ 05Before you decide
How to weigh the BCAA line
Treat it as the least memory-specific part of the formula. Bacopa, rhodiola, L-theanine and ginseng each have at least a small body of work aimed at attention, stress or thinking. The amino acid line has the weakest case of the five for that purpose.
- You get more of this line than of any other, so it shapes the capsule's whole profile.
- Its evidence for memory is the thinnest of the five.
- It is also the line the sales page leaves out, which is a reason to confirm the formula before you buy.
Check how the sales page and the bottle differ before you pay. If the formula matters to you, ask the order desk to confirm what ships. Then move on to the next line, bacopa monnieri.
FAQ
BCAA in Memopezil: your questions
What are the three amino acids in Memopezil's BCAA line?
L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. They are called branched chain because of the shape of their molecules. The label prints them in a 2:1:1 ratio with one total of 540 mg, and it does not print the weight of each one on its own.
Can BCAAs improve memory?
Not reliably, based on the best review we found. In eight studies with 353 people, five saw no change in thinking and three saw improvement, and some suggested harm. The authors called for larger trials. No study tested this capsule. (Majid 2026, BCAA systematic review)
Is 540 mg of BCAAs a lot?
Not by diet standards. A serving of eggs, chicken or fish gives gram amounts of these amino acids. It is the largest line in Memopezil by weight, but on its own it is a small supplement dose compared with ordinary protein foods.
Can I get these amino acids from food instead?
Yes. They are essential amino acids found in most protein foods, including meat, fish, eggs, dairy and beans. If you already eat protein at most meals, you are very likely taking in far more than the capsule holds.
Do BCAAs affect how other amino acids reach the brain?
They can. BCAAs, tryptophan and tyrosine use one carrier into the brain, so a higher blood level of BCAAs can lower the others' entry. That is a feature of the transport system, not a measured effect of this capsule. (Fernstrom 2013, large neutral amino acids)
Do BCAAs interact with medicines?
Our sources do not give a verified interaction list for this line. The label asks anyone taking any medicine or with a known condition to see a physician first. Ask a pharmacist to check the whole label, not just one ingredient.
Why would a memory capsule lead with amino acids?
The label does not say. One reading is that amino acids are cheap, easy to measure and add bulk to the serving. Another is that the maker believed in their link to brain chemistry. We cannot tell which, and a reader should not assume it.
